Where Ontario Students Actually Get Stuck

Grade 9, after de-streaming
With academic and applied streams combined, one class now holds a very wide range of readiness. Students who need a second explanation often do not get one, and algebra gaps form within the first term.
Grade 10 quadratics

MCR3U trigonometric identities

The jump from MCR3U to MHF4U
Advanced Functions moves faster and assumes fluency, not familiarity. Students who scraped through Grade 11 with a decent mark are often the ones caught out, because the course builds directly on what they never fully secured.
MHF4U logarithms and rational functions
